T he Public Relations and Information Center (IPRC) under the Prime Minister’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, together with the Orbeli Analytical Center, had the honor of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) for a roundtable discussion and expert exchange.

Director of the IPRC, Mr. Gor Tsarukyan, officially welcomed the guests and expressed Armenia’s strong interest in expanding academic and analytical cooperation with Chinese research institutions, particularly in the field of digital development and regional studies.

The SASS delegation included:
- Mr. Wei Liu, Director of the SASS Institute of Information Sciences (IIS);
- Mr. Botao Ding, Deputy Director of the SASS Institute of Information Sciences (IIS);
- Mrs. Jiajia Hou, Executive Director of the SASS IIS UN Project Office;
- Mrs. Cheng Song, Editor at the SASS IIS Data Center.

Both parties discussed China's strategic approach toward the South Caucasus, digital economy and smart governance innovations, artificial intelligence and the development of innovation ecosystems and concrete avenues for technological and academic collaboration between Armenia and China.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to initiate institutional cooperation focused on information sharing and joint research projects. The parties emphasized the importance of continued dialogue to foster long-term understanding and collaboration on issues of regional and technological relevance.

The Orbeli Center welcomes this promising partnership with SASS and looks forward to future joint initiatives aimed at deepening Armenia–China expert engagement.
